This user guide is for those new to TextActivities.com
It explains how to import textivate resources into TextActivities.
You can do this even if your Textivate subscription has expired!
1. Go to "Resources"
Click on the "Resources" menu option in the top nav bar of the site:
2. Click on "Create new resource"
All teachers on TextActivities will see a "Create new resource" button on the resources page. (Note that this button does not show on the resource search pop-up, but must be accessed via the Resources" page (via the top nav bar).
This takes you to the new resource page.
3. Click on "Copy / Import from Textivate"
Click this button ...
... which opens this pop-up, and click "OK, continue":
4. Option 1: Copy / Paste Text
If you still have access to textivate and it is easier for you to access the resource directly via the site, you can copy the text content from the "Show all" tab on textivate...
... and paste it into the textbox in the image above.
Then click on "Import" to populate the various resouirce text boxes with data from your textivate resource.
4. Option 2: Browse Textivate
As long as you can remember your login credentials for textivate, you will be able to do this even if your textivate account has expired.
Simply enter your textivate username and password, and click on "Search Textivate":
This will show all of your textivate resources (most recent first), like so:
Click on a resource title to add the resource content into the text box inside the pop-up.
Once you are sure that you have found the correct resource, simply click on "Import" to populate the various text fields on the new resource page with the data from your textivate resource.
5. Add required additional parameters
You'll then need to add a few extra details, such as:
- resource target language
- resource L1 language
- left and right item languages for any matching items
- a path (folder structure) for the resource
- privacy level
6. Upload to TextActivities
Follow the instructions at the bottom of the page to upload your resource to TextActivities.
Tip: Use the preview button (at the bottom of the page) to see what your resource looks like so far. (Note that this opens a resource preview in a new tab each time you click it. So rather than opening a whole load of preview windows, either close the preview after you've had a good look at it, or simply refresh the preview page after making changes rather than clicking on the preview button again.)
As mentioned above, you can do this at any time, even if your Textivate subscription is no longer active. So you are in no rush to go through this procedure with all of your resources right away. You can do it on an as-and-when-needed basis.
