Creating a new resource on TextActivities

This user guide is for those new to TextActivities.com

It explains where to go and what to do so that you can start creating your own resource.

1. Go to "Resources"

Click on the "Resources" menu option in the top nav bar of the site:

2. Click on "Create new resource"

All teachers on TextActivities will see a "Create new resource" button on the resources page. (Note that this button does not show on the resource search pop-up, but must be accessed via the Resources" page (via the top nav bar).

This takes you to the new resource page, where you can begin to fill in the data required to create your own resource.

3. [Extra - if required] Click on the "New resource" button

This shouldn't be required the first time that you create a resource on TextActivities, since there shouldn't be any data there.

On subsequent occasions, however, you may see that the page is already polulated from data from the last time you edited a resource (which is saved in the browser's cache as a fail-safe so that resource data isn't inadvertently lost).

Essentially, if you wish to create a new resource, and the text directly above the yellow info box says anything other than "No data as yet... New resource" ...

... Click on the "New resource" button to clear all data from the page:

4. Follow the instructions to create your resource

You are now ready to add the data for your new resource!

Simply follow the instructions on the new resource page to add the required data for your resource.

Tip: Use the preview button (at the bottom of the page) to see what your resource looks like so far. (Note that this opens a resource preview in a new tab each time you click it. So rather than opening a whole load of preview windows, either close the preview after you've had a good look at it, or simply refresh the preview page after making changes rather than clicking on the preview button again.)

Hope this helps! :o)

VIDEO BONUS!

This YouTube video takes this blog post as a starting point and then goes through the process of creating a fully-functional TextActivities resources, with a Spanish text, an English translation, and matching items. It also shows how easy it is to use ChatGPT to generate these various components (in this case based on a clipped image of a sentence builder from SentenceBuilders.com):
